The Easing Day
The easing day starts the fasting week. It is the caesura, the break between the loud and hectic everyday life and the quiet and contemplative fasting days, between consumption and renunciation.
This is how the easing day should look:
- Drink more than usual. 3 to 4 litres of liquids (water, herbal teas, fruit and vegetable juices; no sweetened or alcoholic drinks!).
- Farewell to coffee and cake. Leave out sugar and other stimulants (alcohol, nicotine, coffee).
- Food reduction. Eat food that is easy to digest and rich in roughage. (rice or potato meals, steamed vegetables, fresh food and salads.)
- Let go. Begin by renouncing radio, television and newspapers. Everyday stress should stay outside.
